Air Purifier Allergy's
Air purifiers are used to solve the problems facing those with allergies. As today’s homes are a virtual minefield
for those suffering from allergies, with pet dander, dust mites, pollen, and dust posing potential problems for the allergy sufferer, not to mention mold and odors, air purifiers are almost required.
At the same time, air purifiers are not 100% effective. Even HEPA filters, the most effective filters made, are only 99.97% effective, and won’t even touch the smallest particulates. Worse, air purifiers that use ozone to break down impurities can’t be used around those with severe allergies. Because of this, it helps to consider what methods to use as if you were allergic to air purifiers.
Keeping your house clean should be of the highest concern. You don’t need to be able to eat off the carpets; just basic cleanliness is enough. Dusting is a good habit to get into, especially as negative ion purifiers tend to create a lot of it. It also makes sure that there isn’t a lot of dust to deal with in the first place, which is one of the bigger offenders. Before you dust, make sure that the carpets are clean (usually through a good vacuuming) and the furniture has been beat every so often to clear out dust mites. As this raises dust, doing it after defeats the purpose of the dusting. Don’t forget to occasionally shampoo the carpets and furniture, as this helps keep the dust mites down.
Also, go through and check the home for areas where moisture has been allowed to gather, as mold may grow there. The usually culprits are areas around sinks, under showers, and near the clothes washer. However, any area where clothes gather or pipes leak might also have mold. A home-wide inspection is a good thing to do every so often.
Make sure that the house gets a good airing out every so often. This may sound counter-productive (after all, aren’t you trying to keep pollen and other allergens out?), but it does you a lot of good to smell the air, and it dry areas out that you might not know about. It also helps to get any allergens out of the house that the house’s sealed environment keeps in.
This cleanliness applies to pets as well. Most allergy sufferers despair of having pets due to problems with pet dander. However, they would be surprised how adding Vitamin E and shampooing them once a week can help.
Just acting like you are allergic to air purifiers every so often can be a good thing for you, and a very nice thing for your health.
